LADIES THAT UX

A community of women in UX who support each other, promote skills and talents.

What is Ladies That UX?

Ladies That UX is a global non-profit initiative by and for the community. Present in Asia, North America, Latin America, Africa, Europe and Oceania, its objective is to improve and increase female participation in the UX market through representation, mutual support, encouragement and inspiration.

The LTUX Florianópolis community was the second chapter to be created in Brazil and here we encourage people to believe in themselves, share knowledge and show their talents, thus serving as an inspiration and reference for the entire community.

Mission: To serve as a link between the female audience, companies and content, promoting the diversification of UX Design professionals.

Eyesight: To become the focal point of the Florianópolis market in searches for female UX Design professionals.

Values:  Commitment, valuing local professionals, proactivity, sisterhood.

What is my contribution to LTUX Floripa?

I started participating in face-to-face events promoted by the chapter until in August 2020 I joined volunteer work collaborating with layouts for publications on social networks about content, tips and events. In April 2021, I started acting as leader of the Communication team, planning monthly deliveries, assigning tasks to team members, improving people management and structuring the documentation of all processes and training in Notion. And in December 2021 I was invited to be Chapter Leader of LTUX Floripa representing this community of strong and empowered women.

Being at the forefront of leadership, together with Valesca Vieira and Bianca Zambonato, I contribute to the management and organization of the community through strategic planning, opportunity trees, recruitment and onboarding of new volunteers, structuring of projects aligned with the objectives outlined, support for volunteers and monitoring the execution of projects, organization of events and training, among others.

I had the immense pleasure of developing the print for the T-shirt "Women who support other women" with the aim of reinforcing our mission and reverting all the value raised in events, tools and training.

What have we been doing in the community?

In order to spread UX inside and outside volunteering, we, the leadership, interviewed all the active members to capture points of improvement in the volunteering experience and generate insights so that they remain motivated, learning and teaching UX to each other and helping the community too.

As a solution, we plan to use the Double Diamond method as a guide for the projects to be delivered, dividing the process into 4 stages: Discovery, Definition, Ideation and Implementation. The projects were based on our strategic planning and voted on by level of importance for volunteering and by relevance of learning among them, as they all applied based on their skills and interests so that they could exercise what they already knew or what else they needed to develop within the UX areas.

This is one of the opportunities we found for them to improve and apply UX tools on a daily basis in a safe environment, where they can make mistakes, ask questions, evolve and feel safe in the job market. And to make all this possible, we are always sharing knowledge and providing free training on various subjects such as Design Sprint, Blueprint, User Journey, Personas, Agile Methodology, among others.

Volunteers help each other and help the community to grow in search of knowledge through events, exchange of experiences, networking and a lot of sisterhood.

Volunteers help each other and collaborate with the community to grow in search of knowledge through events, exchange of experiences, networking and a lot of sorority. Strengthening this initiative is the best way to promote women and achieve, with the power of the network, a city with a more diverse UX area and fair opportunities.
